Unless there is an error, generally when a US citizen who died in a foreign country is found in the Social Security Death Index, the last residence category will show a code in this format: XX123. This code represents a consulate where the death was reported. Example -- "Last Residence: XX846 (U.S. Consulate: SWITZERLAND (BERN))."
